All Star sneakers – Forever Chuck

Converse will celebrate 100 years!

It’s true! It was in 1908 that Converse was founded, thus it’ll be 100 years since its iconic sneakers have been in our lives! It’s weird to think that it’s been so long, isn’t it? Well, here at EscapeShoes we also want to celebrate such an important anniversary, so we’ll let you know about its “Forever Chuck” campaign, which started in the beginning of 2017 and stars the classic All Star Chuck Taylor sneakers. See it all on today’s post!

And why Chuck Taylor? Well, they’re the shoes that started it all! Created in 1917, they’re the original basketball shoes, which received their name from professional player Charles Hollis “Chuck” Taylor. Of course nowadays they’re not only to play sports, and now have a more casual and urban purpose. Despite their simplicity, they’ve a timeless silhouette, rubber sole and their unmistakable ankle patch.

Obviously throughout all these years new versions of these sneakers have emerged, not only high tops but also low, made of other materials, dyed in new colours and prints, and many other details.

As a way to highlight these sneakers’ history as a cultural icon among the youth, Converse has made a series of videos, such as this one that we show you below:

This video counts with participations of model Winnie Harlow, rapper Vince Staples and actress Maisie Williams, known for her performance in the Game of Thrones series, but there have been more videos for the “Forever Chuck” campaign that involved other celebrities, for example Millie Bobby Brown, actress from the show Stranger Things, who stared in a video that explains that cinema teen heroes – that include Allison Reynolds from The Breakfast Club and Marty McFly from Back to the Future – always wear All Star Chuck Taylor sneakers. More recently, singer and actress Sabrina Carpenter, actor Cole Sprouse and model Alton Mason Jr., among others, have joined the campaign.

It’s incredible to think that it’s been 100 years! And even after such a long time, Converse’s still able to surprise us, as when it presented its newest autumn / winter collection 2017, which includes shoes like the ones that we’ll show you next:
