And, after seeing all the different and fun outfits that went by there, we decided to do a small selection of the best to inspire you to create the perfect look so that you can to that festival with the boho and in fashion style that you’re looking for. Are you thinking about to a festival in a near future? Read today’s EscapeShoes post and be inspired!
The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, or simply Coachella, is a dream for any festival-goer. In the city of Indio, California, this festival embodies different types of music, including rock, indie, hip hop and electronic music, in several stages that continuously offer life music. It also has art exhibitions across the entire event, as well as many other attractions. So, it’s not strange to see many people, like celebrities, athletes, bloggers or art and music lovers, gather in this iconic festival every year.
Throughout the years, Coachella also became the ideal way to go back to the boho and hippy style of the 70s. Shorts, tops, lace, fringes, prints, scarves, necklaces, earrings, hats, sunglasses, denim jackets… are practically mandatory in the festival if what you want is a relaxed look in your best festival outfit.
And, in this 2016 edition, there’s no lack of some of the biggest names in today’s music world, such as Ellie Goulding, Calvin Harris, Ice Cube and Guns N’ Roses. However, outside the stages you could also see some familiar faces, for example, Portuguese supermodel and Victoria Secret’s angel, Sara Sampaio, and North-American socialite, Paris Hilton.
And today on the EscapeShoes blog, we want to show you a small selection of the best looks we’ve found at Coachella, in order to inspire you to create your very own outfits to be ready for the festivals that are yet to come. Especially regarding shoes, because, since the majority of festivals occur during spring and summer, some people opt for more open shoes, like sandals, but these festivals sometimes also occur on open fields, with slightly uneven terrains with grass or even mud, and that’s why some prefer more closed and protective shoes, like booties.
Therefore, to start, look at actress Emma Roberts’ outfit:
As you can see, she’s using some of those mandatory pieces that we’ve mentioned before, like big sunglasses, denim shorts, a lace crochet sleeveless jumper, scarves, bracelets and earrings. And to complement all of this? An elegant and feminine pair of flat sandals with shiny details. It’s an outfit that doesn’t restrict itself to just music festivals, since it can also be used in the day-to-day. And flat sandals are a great choice to have cool feet, but without renouncing your comfort by wearing high heels. And the shiny details give you that special touch that you need, in the same way as with the GUESS Adalinn Gold on the next photo. And their light shades allow you to match them with any colour!
Are you looking for a more bohemian outfit? See the one by Brazilian supermodel Alessandra Ambrósio:
Other elements that you may find in festival looks are looser and flowing pieces and, for the true 70s and “flower power” effect, flower crowns, like the one that you can see on the first image. Furthermore, Alessandra’s using a pair of shoes that’s a trend this season, which are gladiator sandals. With their name derived of the shoes used long time ago by Roman gladiators, they’re characterized for being very open, with just thin crisscrossed laces holding the foot and also part of the leg. Like the MTNG Frozen Tan, to the right, which, to foment even more their hippy style, have some fringes added along the shaft area.
Another type of shoe that also stood out at Coachella was wedge shoes, since they give you the same height and femininity as high heels, but with the same comfort as flat sandals. As an example, look at Indian actress and model, Freida Pinto’s outfit.
To be honest, I love the contrast between her more street clothes, with the denim dungarees shorts, and her precious wedge shoes with the bow at the front, practically identical to the Cubanas Cult4220M Pewter from the new spring / summer collection. However, the Cubanas shoes also have the advantage of a metallized silver colour, which is very in fashion nowadays.
Lastly, we show you a slightly warmer outfit, suitable for evenings, by Aimee Song, the L.A. writer behind the Song of Style blog.
See how well Aimee matches a more feminine style, with her floral dress in shades of red, white, black and blue, with a slightly manly look, with her baggy army green coat. And to finish, she uses a simple pair of ankle boots, which is perhaps the type of shoes most used at festivals. Their brown colour matches really well with the dress, as well as with the coat and eve with her blue bag. And if you want a pair of brown booties like these, but with a little bit more detail, we’ve the solution for you! The MTNG Sprint Leather ankle boots are ideal to match with almost any colour, but especially green, red, dark blue or black, and they’ve those side fringes that give more dynamist while you’re walking.
