“New year, new me”, is what they say, right? A new year gives us possibilities to start from scratch; either it’s a new project or even a change in our look in order to make us feel better about ourselves and ready to face the challenges that a new year brings us. Isn’t that right?

That’s why on today’s EscapeShoes blog post, we bring you fresh news to give you new ideas to start off 2017 in the best way possible! Today, for example, we’ll talk about the colour of the year, chosen by the Pantone Institute, an organization that created an innovative system to identify and match colours needed in the graphic arts community. Of course this system also influenced the fashion industry and many others that nowadays create trends around this very system. The colour of 2017 is “Greenery”, a shade of yellow-green that “evokes the first days of spring when nature’s greens revive, restore and renew”. Thus, it’s a fresh and revitalizing colour that’s associated to new beginnings, the “pursuit of personal passions and vitality”. What could be better than this vivacious colour to start the new year of 2017?

If you believe that this colour’s too strong for you, but still part of you likes it, there’s nothing better than to create a serene look in light colours, such as white or beige, and incorporate this colour in accessories, for example! On the picture below, you can see a very simple outfit with a pair of jeans and a white shirt, matched with one of Converse’s most classic models, the All Star Ox Optical White. If you notice, the colour of the year’s discreetly added through the bag, thus offering a perfect “pop” of colour that balances the outfit! Just look:

If you consider yourself to be bold or if green’s your favourite colour, why not use it and abuse it? The outfit that we show you next is a classic, but colourful, look, due to the use of “Greenery” in the midi skirt. The woman in the picture chose to add the striped print on the top in neutral colours, much like the shoes. A pair very similar to the woman’s is the GUESS Ridley Black. The outfit’s perfect for a more formal dinner date or for a special event, don’t you think so?

Finally, we’ll show you a few ideas on how to incorporate this colour in your look, but with shoes. It may seem like a tad bold colour for those that are used to wearing neutral colours in their shoes (I speak for myself as well), but believe me that if you wear a simple outfit, like the one that we showed to you or a pair of black trousers and light colours, don’t be shocked to see how great green looks with a perfect and much fresher outfit to brighten up your days!
