The ideal shoes for sightseeing – Summer at EscapeShoes

On today’s post, we made of selection of a few models that we think are perfect to go sightseeing and walk around. We don’t want to waste any more time, so, let’s go!

After the beach, the festivals and the water sports, we finally arrived at our last post of this series of ours called Summer at EscapeShoes. To finish, we chose the best models to use during one of the activities that is almost mandatory to do when you travel during the holidays: sightseeing. Of course, when you travel, the main goal is to meet a place that you never visited before. And this includes visiting the city, relevant monuments, the places with the most breath-taking views and even the local shops, to buy souvenirs for family and friends.

First and foremost, an important advice! Before going on a trip, try walking around with the shoes that you want to take with you. Take one or two walks around your neighbourhood, to see if the chosen shoes are truly comfortable, even after a long walk, since these will be the shoes that you will mostly likely use during the majority of your trip.

Another important detail that we would like you to take into consideration is that there are many places where you can travel, so sometimes a type of shoes can be suitable for one place and not for the other. On this post, we will cover some different scenarios so that our choices are the most diversified possible, but it is also best to research the place that you want to visit beforehand so that you can make a more conscious decision about the type of shoes that you should use.

To start, we want you to come with us for a walk by the seashore. It is a calm walk to enjoy the beautiful scenery and to meet the local people. In these cases, the ideal is to have comfortable shoes, so that you can have a relaxing walk without worrying about your feet, but also elegant so that you don’t have to neglect your style. There are many models that match that description, but below are two of my favourites:

You must already recognize the shoes from the first picture, right? They are Timberland’s classic boat shoes. In addition of their unquestionable style and quality, it is a type of shoes that never goes out of fashion and it can be adapted both for a more casual or a more formal look, for example, to go out to dinner. For the ladies, we have these elegant Fly London sandals. One of the most important aspects about these sandals is that they are from the famous Yellow line, so you have the guarantee that you will have a stable walk and, at the same time, an elegant posture, thanks to their wedge sole made of light and durable rubber.

Now, we will change the scenario for a more rough terrain, like the countryside or a hill. It is good to appreciate nature, but you need a pair of shoes that protects your feet during every moment, but also keeps them comfortable and cosy. This way, I believe that the most obvious choice would be a pair of quality sneakers. And one of the most famous brands in the world for their sneakers is Nike!

In addition to the brand, these two models have several aspects in common. For example, both are covered with mesh, thus allowing your feet to always be ventilated. Furthermore, their outsoles are a perfect combination of light EVA and non-sticky rubber, for a stable and cushioned walk, and both are perfect to do physical exercise as well as for your day-to-day. You can always use them with sportswear, but you can, for example, match the Nike Internationalist Leather Black with jeans and a white or blue t-shirt, and with the Air Max 1 Print White Grey Mist, denim shorts and a black top to make them stand out even more.

Lastly, we wanted to make a small selection of models that could have more varied uses. I.e. they are models that you will be able to use when you go visit shops looking for souvenirs for your closest acquaintances, to visit a museum or monuments or even for a casual party. Something similar that you will be able to notice between these two models is that they are flat shoes. This is due to the fact that high heel shoes are not considered to be the most suitable for travel, since you normally spend a lot of time walking when you are traveling, except, of course, if it is for a business trip or a wedding, for example.

You must already know of the quality of the canvas and rubber outsole of these Vans Old Skool Navy sneakers, but, besides that, their combination of neutral colours ensures that it is easy to match them with other colours, like red, beige and brown. On the other hand, the Dkode Faris Silver White flat shoes are the ideal combination of simplicity and elegance. They have a classic design made with two types of resistant leather, with a string at the front to decorate, but what really stand out are those two types of leather, especially the metallized silver one. That discreet touch ensures that you can match them with dark jeans, but also with your favourite skirts or dresses.
