How to pack shoes in your travel bag

When you’re travelling, what’s the hardest item to pack in your travel bag? For many, shoes are the hardest, and it’s easy to understand why. They take up a lot of space and it’s not easy to pick just one pair to take with you, even if it’s a short trip, in addition of shoes being usually heavier than clothes. First, which shoes to pack?

The ideal would be to wear a pair of shoes and, if necessary, bring a second pair in the bag. Taking more than two pairs in the bag or backpack could prove to be more difficult. Make sure that besides comfortable you choose shoes that are light and easy to pack in order to occupy the least amount of space inside the bag as possible.

Where to pack the shoes inside the bag?

The most important thing is that you don’t pack shoes on top of your clothes at the last minute! Even the lightest pair of shoes is heavier than most clothes. To balance the weight in your bag, we recommend that you first pack the shoes in the middle of the bag and then pack your clothes around them. Before packing your shoes inside the bag, stuff them with paper, ball up socks or another soft material in order to keep their shape. Then, interlock them so that the right shoe’s toe is touching the left shoe’s opening and vice versa. Picture how shoes come packed inside a shoe box. This way, you can easily pack around the shoes! Also keep the shoes from dirtying your clothes during the trip. Wrap the pair inside a plastic or a tote bag.
