Today we show you a fantastic trick!
I know what you’re thinking… Why do I want to waterproof my shoes when we’re almost in summer? Isn’t that only needed in winter?
Well, no. Imagine that you go to the beach and you don’t want to wear flip flops, you want, for example, wear your Paez… or you go for a walk in the countryside and you want to wear your Converse, but you have to cross a river or have a disaster and spill oil or ketchup on them.
Furthermore, waterproofing your shoes isn’t only for protecting the shoes themselves, but also to protect your feet. You have to ensure that your feet are the driest possible, because when your feet are wet or sweat, the skin softens and this makes blisters more likely to appear.
Of all the home-based methods that we’ve seen, only one seemed reliable and that it would work, but not only will it keep your feet dry but it’ll also allow your feet to breathe so that you don’t sweat. Therefore, keep reading!
For this trick, you’ll need beeswax, a hairdryer and of course your shoes. First, what you’ll need to do is to apply the wax throughout the surface of the shoe. In case the wax is hard to spread, you can warm up the wax, but be careful not to over melt it.
Keep applying the wax across the entire shoe and once you’ve finished, use the hairdryer and let the heat dry your shoes. And don’t worry!
What it needs to happen is that the wax needs to merge with the shoe’s canvas, only then will it become waterproof. If this doesn’t happen, you can increase the heat of your hairdryer to slightly accelerate the process.
And then you can use your shoes near water!
If you didn’t understand how this process works, don’t worry! We explain everything to you step by step here:
Specific products:
There are certain products that make waterproofing your shoes easier, like waterproof sprays that, like the name indicates, make the shoes waterproof in only one spray.
It’s recommendable that you use this product outdoors. Use the spray at more or less 30 centimetres away so that it stays with a uniform layer and spray the entire shoe.
Leave it dry outdoors for more or less an hour and that’s that!
Repeat the process 1 or 2 times a month so that the shoes stay waterproof.
